Early Christmas Dinner

Image
Yesterday we started our day as a cleaning day. Vacuum cleaned the whole place etc. Nothing interesting to write about. However, after we finished cleaning things got interesting! Ola invited us and Julia to her place to have a Christmas-ish Dinner with traditional Polish foods and to make the dinner international I made  puliszka  which is the Hungarian version of polenta.  Although a traditional Polish Christmas Dinner has 12 dishes (yes, twelve !) we only had 5ish — I believe the Christmas Dinner is the last dinner Polish people have in the year, because I can’t imagine how could they think about food for a very long time after 12 dishes! Anyway our fist dish was beetroot soup with tiny pierogis filled with forest mushrooms(?). I genuinely don’t like beetroot, my family loves a beetroot salad, however I hate it. I hate it so much I had to say it twice in my previous sentence! Hooweeeverrrr this soup was nothing like the beetroot I know. It tasked like a dream! It may s...

Christmas Market In Wroclaw

Image
So, I finished the blog yesterday with our arrival to Wroclaw. When we arrived to the city we saw a sign we haven’t seen before. I suspect it meant from that point in the city all parking spots are  not  going to be free. And they weren’t! Kinda. We drove into a small street near the building we booked a room in, while I was waiting in the car — so we didn’t have to pay for a started parking hour — Sari went exploring. She found a parking lot with ‘Personal cars only’ sign. We had no idea what that meant, but there were a few spots left so I parked there and tried to ask locals if the place was free or not. Unfortunately I didn’t find anyone who spoke any English, but with the help of all my Polish knowledge and a patient local lady we’ve worked out the place was free and we were allowed to park there. After saying good night to the car we went on an accommodation-hunt or maybe that’s not the correct expression because we already had an accommodation, we just didn’t kno...

Longest drive to Wroclaw

Image
Yesterday was a long an exciting day; we’ve explored Wroclaw! However, we start our day back in Warsaw where we woke up. Unexpected huh? Yesterday it took me hours to fall asleep literally, I couldn’t sleep until 0200. This hiccup also meant we couldn’t get up at the planed time. When we woke up, and realized we had no food, so I had a supply run to the nearest Lidly in the meantime Sari packed our stuff — except my toothbrush, bummer. I got us some sandwich materials for our lunch on the road.  Yeah road, so as I told you earlier, the commute from Warsaw to Wroclaw takes 3 hours and 45 minutes. In our case *should have taken.* My plan was to use 85% freeway and 25% highway on our trip, so we would’ve traveled on a safe fast road yet we could’ve had the opportunity to take a closer look at the countryside. Well, it almost worked out. The first problem was I forgot to bring a map. The second problem was the shitty Waze doesn’t show the borders, some randomly chosen cities and so on…...

Vaccination-Hangover

Yesterday we didn’t   NOTHING!  And yes, we did so little things, that the ‘nothing’ head to be full caps locked. That’s kinda also the reason why I’m writing yesterday’s blog only two hours after yesterday. I can’t sleep… So, when we got up in the morning, the usual after vaccination procedure happened. Or at least that’s how the vaccination affects me; I got up with hurting head, like I would have had to many drinks on the night of the day before yesterday. I got outta bed, I think I made Sari breakfast — yeah I think I did, although I can’t recall right now. I felt weird so did Sari. Hence we stayed in bed all day. I was wearing underwear all day. I mean I always wear underwear, but yesterday I didn’t wear the whole day anything, but my underwear. Except for literally ten minutes when I took out the compost. That was it. Outta 24 hours or 1440 minutes I had proper home clots on for 10 minutes. Now that’s what I call a perfect lazy day! We chilled all morning in the b...

Getting Vaccinated! … Again

Image
Yesterday was our big day! Or actually our third big day. We got   vaccinated  again! For the third and hopefully the last time!   When we got up we were rather nervous about the upcoming torture. We got up, did our usual staff breakfast and shit. I mean shit like that, not literally. We prepared a nice little lunch and enjoyed the day. Until 1300. Then we nervously started getting ready, gathering all the papers that would be needed for us to get vaccinated, then got on a bus to the university. At the university we went to CenterMed, where we had our appointment for 1400. The operators kindly told us where to go, and to wait till the doctor calls us. We didn’t have to wait to much he called us in, filled all the paperwork, so we were officially ready to get vaccinated.  First Sari got her dose then it was my turn. It did hurt a little, but it was no biggie. However, it got me thinking. My first vaccination was good till now kinda. This one will be good till J...

Getting The Translation to Get Vaccinated

Image
Yesterday we had a pretty action packed day. Finally! We we got up Sari had/hadn’t an online class, I couldn’t really follow, but for some reason the university doesn’t inform us. It’s almos like a surprise every week wether our classes going to be online or not — her classes, I’m done with in-person classes. Anyways, I was saying; while she had her class I cooked lunch: mushrooms with chicken, rice and some cheese sauce. It wasn’t prefect, but I had eaten worst in my life haha. After our lunch was the time when things got exciting! We had to pick up the translation of our vaccinations’ or proof of our vaccination, as I told you earlier we — Sari’s mom — found one of the nicest translators in Warsaw, Klari who even gave us discount on the translation! We really appreciate it and all the kindness we got from her!  To pick up the papers we took a smooth tram ride, a 25 minutes tram ride — if you were wondering how big Warsaw is. Than we had to find the translator office, which...

New Trip Is Being Planned

So, yesterday kinda started slowly… Not because we were lazy, but because yesterday there was a house party. And yes, I deliberately said ‘there was’ instead of ‘we had’ because it was our upstairs neighbor who was partying not us. Were weren’t invited, however we sill were part of the party. Loud music and lot of dancing above us. We usually fall asleep listening to the news, this was a completely new background music to fall a sleep to. I’d like to point out how wrong the IRO or Welcome Point or whoever gave us the presentation of Polish rules, they said after 2200 there will be no loud noise, Polish people respect the sleeping hours. Well they don’t. Haha. Or the politically correct way to say it is; Polish people don’t respect the sleeping hours more than any other European nation — except Southern Europeans I guess. Anyway when we finally got up we came up with an idea. See we want to travel to all the major cities in Poland, however till now we have only been to Warsaw, Krakow, G...
