Our first ESN event
Sooo, I believe yesterday
we went to our first ESN event! And it was great! Not particularly the event
but meeting other Erasmus students was amazing!
The whole thing started
at 6pm. We had to gather at the front gate of the university, where we met our
coordinators, who gave us some papers with a buncha tasks. For example, we had
to find the ESN office, find some statue in the garden, find the first McDonald’s
in Poland – which opened later then the first in Hungary which is quite
interesting to think about. In the end we ended up at a huuuuge barish place,
or maybe a lot of bars’ inside a garden area(?) I really don’t know what to
call that place – or actually what its name was. But we didn’t stay too long or
actually, we left immediately after our ESNer said goodbye because the place
was three times crowded as a Wallmart parking lot on a Black Friday. (I don’t
really know why this event was held on a Friday when literally every
person alive in Warsaw was going out…) So, we – Sara, a Finish girl, a French guy,
a folk from Transylvania and me – left to get some food fast, and we ended up
searching for pizza places – when you are really hungry it is definitely better
to play it safe and get some food that you are familiar with. We found two
places, both places density was worse than Hon Kong’s, but after waiting for
nearly 15 minutes we got a table! The waiters were super busy, so we had to
wait a really long time just to get a menu, but boy it did worth waiting. We were
all stoked about the size and the quality of the pizza! The place was called Otto
Pompieri in case you want to eat some good pizza in Warsaw. The pizza was
really great, so was the service. It was really funny how the Finish girl and
the French guy reacted when they saw the prices! Neither of the countries they
are coming form is what you would call cheap so when they saw that one pizza was
around 35-45 zloty they basically couldn’t find words! They denied it, but I
think this was a culture shock for them. For us Hungarian speakers it was not
that big of a shock, I mean it was a reasonable price, but definitely not
cheap. It was great meeting new people, having conversations in English. Sometimes
it is hard to understand some people, but that really shouldn’t be a problem
because you must try, try and try Try and try, you'll succeed at last – as Jimmy
Cliff sang. So, when you are afraid or maybe shy to talk in English just
remember it is still better to have a rough conversation than to be in complete
silence!
For goodbye I have
a motivational song for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNjStWG2vLU
I hope you enjoyed
it, and see you next time?
