Visitors Pt.2

 

Yesterday was a full-on packed day!

First, we walk Sári to the bus stop because she had classes in the morning, then I went souvenir shopping with her parents, then I drove them to the airport, then I picked Sári up at the uni and drove home. You thought this was it? Nope. After getting home I had to go to a washing place – could be called laundry room maybe? Where I had to clean nearly 3.9 tons of bed sheet. The shop was full of huge and incredibly difficult to operate machines. Unfortunately, I have never studied atom-physics at Harvard, but luckily there was a cleaning lady who was able to create connection between me and machines. She even wanted to help me with the folding of the bed sheets. She spoke really little English, but she was so helpful! I hope God will serve her with this positive energy for a long time! After this completely strange, but amazing experience I headed home to pick up Sara and the car because we were headed to the airport again! This time we were gonna pick my brother up! The mission was half accomplished… The excitement started when his plane set off 30min late, then when he got here his phone changed its mind about working! So, he bought a ticket for the local public transport whatever and waited for someone to show up at the tram station, to borrow a phone for a call. In the meantime, we were sitting in the car at a random apartment block’s carpark near the airport waiting for his text to continue our commute to the airport. Once again Polish people proved themselves to be a really friendly nation, they gave my brother a phone no problem and finally we managed to pick him up!

What a day! I’m happy to have him here, tomorrow we gonna explore the city!

The actual first day at the University of Warsaw

  Soo, I know I already wrote a blog with this title, but that day (the day before yesterday?) I only had an online class which does not qualify as a normal in-person class! It simply does not. My first class was an online class, at 4pm – which is always fun – after it was my second class that was at the university! What a relief to have a class where I can see other people, and the lecturer doesn’t have terrible audio! What was not that good about it is it was freaking hard! I wasn’t expecting a Polish language class to be easy but wow! It is the next level of randomly placed letters in a word. And the fact that the class starts at 6.30pm does not help us. It seems like usually we are allowed to miss two classes, which is less – by one – than we can in Pécs, but here at the language course we have two classes per week and also two opportunities to miss class which honesty sucks… I do want to learn a Slavic language to be able to communicate in the Balkan, or catch some word whe...

Let's pretend this is day one(?)

  Today we just took the time to really concentrate on ourselves. In the morning we slept late, then I did my little yoga with Bohobeautiful, after that we started cooking lunch and dinner yada-yada-yada. We did participate in an online webinar about the library in Warsaw. To be completely honest I am not big of a fan of libraries. Not like I wouldn’t like to read, but somehow every time I went to the library back at home, I could tell based on people’s look that they knew I was studying sports and therefore I did not belong to a library. Of course, Sara was paying attention she studies at the faculty of Humanities, “her type’s” natural habitat is the library. While we were listening to the presentation, I had the time to think. And I realized a rather strange thing. Yesterday while we were talking with Ola, we were Americans ! I mean me and Sara… Okay, let me explain. Start of Our Evacuation

  So, yesterday was Sari’s last exam, which means the studying part of our Erasmus has came to an end, unfortunately not only the studying part is over, the whole Erasmus program is about to end! We even started packing yesterday… Sari’s exam was at noon, which is possibly the worst time to write a test, because you can’t even eat before the test which means your brain doesn’t necessarily have enough sugar to work. We were hungry and had no motivation to cook, and we were planning to go to IKEA anyways, so we decided to beat the traffic instead and have some good old IKEA vegetarian hotdogs. It was totally worth, we payed 14 zlotyi for a two meals. That simply doesn’t happen anywhere else.
