Busy, Busier, the Álmos-t

Yesterday there was a lot going on.

When I got up, I realized I’m having a class in the afternoon, that always needs preparation! This is the class – I’ve probably already told you about – where we have to read some papers, listen to some podcasts, and sometimes do some presentations. For yesterday’s class we were supposed to read a 21-page long paper(!) about Instagram’s effect on traveling, and to do a presentation of an Instagrammable place. The deadline was Wednesday morning. So, I got up on Wednesday morning, checked my emails to see what I had to do for class, and I was like ‘Oh, shit, we have a problem here…’ When I started reading it felt like a never-ending nightmare. I kinda understood what the text was about, but I wasn’t really sure about the whole thing… And I had to do a presentation on something I hardly even know about. I started doing my PPT around 1030, and I got it done aand sent by 1158! Damn, close call. I was a little stressed about presenting it, but in the end, it turned out to be pretty good! The teach even gave me a verbal well-done!

After the class I did something, I wanted to do since the day we got here! I cleaned the windows. It might seem like nothing for you, especially without context; that’s my bad. So, here’s a little context for you: we live on the 9th floor! Damn that is a long way down from here! It was pretty damn hard cleaning the windows in conditions like this. I mean I wouldn’t have been so stressed about this, if I was supposed to clean them windows before Newton had come up with this whole insanity; what is it called? Gravity?! Anyway, I did my safety measures, put my ID card in my pocket to make identification a bit easier, and got to it. I gotta say I am pretty pleased with the results! Our windows look like glass now! I can actually see thru them! Holly-molly! What an experience it is to look out the windows! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Yes, that is a car-towing rope attached to me and a table

In the evening we started planning our trip. For tomorrow. Tomorrow a 4-day holiday is starting in Poland – Thursday is the National Independence Day in Poland. We were planning to leave town for these four days – and possibly a few extra days – for a long time now, but I forgot to check the dates, and to book accommodations. But I thought no biggie, we will check the night before leaving, hosts wanna lend out their rooms, so at the last minutes they will give us nice low prices. They didn’t. We couldn’t find a single room on an acceptable price. Not one.
While Sara was checking the accommodations, I was planning the route. My idea was to take two backpacks, hop on a couple of trains, and check out Torun, Gdansk, Slowinski National Park, and etc. But this last stop was where things turned south. It turned out there were no train, bus, or any public transport opportunities to the national park! – Okay, maybe there is a bus, there must be a bus, but it was pointless to search anymore, because it turned out Sári has no backpack here. Just some little peace of shit she insists on calling a backpack… You cannot fit a decent sized water battle in that thing! So, we would have to take a suitcase with us. Even into the national park! The idea of dragging a suitcase up the sand dunes in the national park made me forget about my environmentalist-self, and I decided to go by car. I also checked the prices and taking a train would cost only 10-15 Euros less than driving! These trains are freaking expensive! What would make anyone take those trains for a fortune? It’s kinda disappointing, I mean I wanted to travel in a way that produces as little emission as possible!... We will take a train to Gdansk once in the near future just for the experience, I promise!

That’s it for today, take care, and start practicing social distancing
