Exploring Warsaw Again

Yesterday we chilled a bit in the morning. And afternoon, but then we went sightseeing! It was after four o’clock when we eventually left the apartment. Since the sunset was at 1528 it was already dark when we’ve started our walk.

However, before our little sightseeing trip we weren’t doing completely nothing! We cooked some lunch, had some long conversations, had some fun – you know how it is to reconnect with your friends after not seeing them for a while – and the girls did their hair and had chosen the perfect outfit for the night – it almost worked.

So, as I was saying by the time, we got out of the apartment the streets were completely dark, which meant we were going to have a nice evening walk thru the city.
First, we got on a tram that took as to the oldtown. Then we walked around, started at the main square, where we’ve found a huge Christmas Tree, however it was a bit disappointing for two reasons. Reason a) was it was fake! It had huge metal poles in the inside and in the outside as well – at least they’ve covered the outside poles with some material that looks like a tree. And reason b) was it wasn’t lit! We thought and well think to this very morning it was because advent’s first Sunday is today and wasn’t on yesterday, they might consider it as a problem. Haha, I know it might be a bit unfollowable, but I’m not quite sure what I wanted to say there so it’s hard to correct it.
After the main square we were headed to the market square where we found the Christmas Market. Or something like a Christmas Market – although we’ve just discussed it, because the place had no giftshop opportunities, only food stands. Oh, and an ice-skating ring! Right in the middle of the square! How cool is that? Maximum a few °C otherwise it would meld. Ha-ha. I told Anna – Sári’s friend, I only had the opportunity to ask her if I could use her name – about hot beer Piwo Male or Male Piwo is its name – I believe – in Poznan. However, in Poznan it was impossible to buy one, although all the food stands at the Christmas Market had it on their menus. Luckily in Warsaw it wasn’t that way. Not all the stands had it on their menu, but one did have it. As soon as we found that out we invaded the place, we bought Anna and me a hot beer and a hot wine for Sári. And boy, I gotta tell you. That hot beer. It was the WORST I’ve ever had! It was terrible! What an awful taste that thing had. It was a real challenge to drink it. In the beginning I though okay, at least it’s hot, but by the time I got to the half of the glass it wasn’t hot anymore, it was on the low end of the term warm.
While we were straggling with our drinks we got to the old market square, which led us to a church and Marie Curie statue which is always the end of our downtown trip.
By that time we were kinda freezing, and had other issues, so we were desperate to find a warm place that had a toilet as well. Our first though was a bar near the university, but then we realized the situation was much more serious, so we were looking for an option b. We found a place which seemed to be a cheap one since it was off the main streets, however as it turned out it was everything, but cheap. We met the waitress, she told us to have a seat, and she would come. While we were waiting for her, we all used their bathrooms, which made us committed to order something in return. We waited for at least 10 minutes, she still wasn’t coming, so we decided enough is enough got up and left. At least we had the opportunity to solve our fluid problems and to warm up a bit. After this hiccup we soldiered on. Sári took a tram home, we continued our cold sightseeing tour. We walked to the palm tree, the only palm tree that I know of in Warsaw. I showed Anna and Máté the bars near the university – oh, and we also walked around in the garden of the university.
We finished our trip at the Palace of Culture and Sciences, we couldn’t enter the building, but we promised ourselves that the first thing we do today is to explore that building. Which is exactly what we are going to do right now, so goodbye. Ha-ha.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day, and take care!
