No Hotdogs Today

Yesterday we wanted to get some hotdogs from IKEA, so we decided to hop on a bus and help ourselves to some. We picked the closest IKEA to us. Although it is only 27 minutes from our home we have never been to that shop. When we got there, we saw an accident; a truck was cut off by a SUV. The truck driver probably haven’t reacted quick enough caught the right corner of the SUV and turned it into the fence.
When we got to the IKEA, we realized it is not the sorta IKEA we were hoping for. It was just a shop in a mall instead of a big IKEA. Unfortunately, this meant there were no IKEA restaurant and also no hotdogs… Unlucky. After wondering around in the shop, we started searching for something to eat. I went for a taco, Sári tried out Pizza Hut – in the end of the day no one out pizzaz the hut. I gotta say each dish was okay, but nothing really special.

In the evening we met Sári’s mentor for a beer. We went to new place called Zakatek. It’s really close to the other places we’ve been to; it’s basically on Nowy Swiat street which is something like a main street in Warsaw’s nightlife. Although I did made a resolution on not going out on weekends to avoid the crowd, this time we were lucky and found the only free table in the bar after 2 minutes we entered.
In this bar I had the opportunity to try a new beer! It’s called Kasztelan. Right from the first sip I knew I’ve tasted something similar in my life. It took half a bottle to realize it had the same taste, or maybe not the same taste, but really similar to Szalon beer – a beer which is manufactured in my hometown Pécs. It had a similar sour-y taste as Szalon. Although the taste was quite similar, the prize was not! Back home we pay something like 7 zlotyi max for a Szalon beer here I had to pay 13 zlotyi for Kasztelan! I think that’s a really high price for a beer like that.

Kasztelan

Later Ola’s friend joined us too. They met at the university because he also studies Hungarian! Holly molly! Another Polish person who studies Hungarian what the crap?! I’m absolutely staggered how good these guys speak Hungarian! I am absolutely staggered! They have a huge vocabulary we were talking about history, politics, and schools just like anything. I never would’ve thought the Polish and the Hungarian high school system is so similar! They have the same sorta compulsory readings as we do in Hungary for instance. Thinking back now, probably other nations have also compulsory readings for school leaving exams as we do, just I haven’t talked about this with any foreign people so far – if you are not from Poland or Hungary and you had some compulsory readings, please feel free to write in the comments bellow! I’m really curious!

I believe that’s all what happened to us yesterday, see you tomorrow and thank you for reading!

Take care,

Almos

*Oh, and one more thing! If you are in Warsaw and wanna get a hotdog from IKEA don’t go to the one in Blue City, they don’t have a kitchen…
