Arriving to Bialystok

So, yesterday we’ve arrived to a Bialystok; to a city we have never been to!

The city is like 200 km from Warsaw, we could have arrived in two hours if we didn’t care about polar bears, but we did so it the drive took us around three hours. But it was completely okay, we stopped two times on our way at various places. First we stopped next to a small village — or actually between two villages — and it was winter wonderland at its best! I mean bestish haha. The scenery was amazing; all the fields were covered in snow, all every tree’s every branches were covered with snow, everything was covered with snow except the road. That was just a huge block of ice! It was literally all ice! But people were driving on it anyway! I mean they were doing 20 km/h and the road was completely flat, but still it was a strange thing. Then we stopped at a random place in the middle of winter wonderland.

When we finally arrived to Bialystok the sun was still up — behind the clouds of course but you got the point. So we got to explore the city in the daylight. We walked for an hour or so when we had to do a pitstop at a café because it was freezing outside! Although it was only -10ish°C but the real feel was -14°C which is brutal! I know there are people living in colder climates, experience colder temperatures, but for us in Southern Central Europe it was brutal. We ended up in a really nice café, where they spoke no English, however they were super cute, and it was an extremely positive experience with them.

After we drank our coffee we needed a little time to find our courage and get back out into the cold. We walked back on the main street to our accommodation. Before we left the main street we did the compulsory selfie with the Bialystok sign and started rushing back to our warm little room. This time our accommodation was pretty nice, freshly made, clean, and warm. Perfect!  Except our neighbors. They were watching some stupid game, shouting and etc. We imagine it was a father-son combo meeting up in between the two holidays because mommy and daddy got divorced. So, we didn’t bother them, we were happy that they were happy.

After chilling for an hour we got out into the cold again to see the city at night. The city was incredibly nice a little bit nicer and a lot colder than it was in the daylight. We walked along the main street again, till we got cold again. We had a pizza and a good time at the pizza house until we had to leave and get cold again.

On our walk back to our accommodation we stopped at the university; it has a huge building wit an even bigger garden, it’s just a magical place! After we took some photos there we walked home, and celebrated our survival with a hit shower.

I think Bialystok is a really cute little town — it has almost 3 times more inhabitants than Pécs does, however it had the same feeling — however I seriously don’t think this weather would be the best for sightseeing.

That’s it for today, I hope you are well, and see you tomorrow !

Take care,

Almos
