Dealing with Bureaucracy/Will We Ever Gonna Get Vaccinated?!
Yesterday we tried to deal with Polish bureaucracy. It was bad. And though. And not what you would call fruitful.
So, the situation was and actually still is that we got the second dose of vaccine 6 months ago, and by now the efficiency(?) of the vaccine has plummeted nicely, which isn’t really nice for us. Hence we would like to have the 3rd dose. We are allegeable for it because there rule here in Poland is something like you can get the 3rd dose if you’ve been vaccinated 6 months ago. However things are not as simple as we would like them to be. The Polish ministry of fuckery requires translated papers — I think I’ll tell you the whole story how it went down because it’s rather comical.
As you might’ve read we asked Ola to talk with a vaccination center to book an appointment or at least get some information on the vaccination procedure. They told us we have to be in the Polish health care system to get vaccinated, which isn’t a big problem we just have to ask a doctor to put is in the system. Having no idea how the doctor system works here, but knowing that back in Hungary we have doctors at the dorm — so for university students — I figured we should write an email to the Welcome Point/IRO of the University of Warsaw. Sari wrote them the day before yesterday I believe, and in the answer email they told us we can register for the vaccine in person at the Small Courtyard. Great we thought, we just go to the uni, ask someone where the heck is the courtyard and get vaccinated in a week. So, we went to the main building, asked a few employee about the courtyard they knew nothing. When we finally found someone who seemed to knew where the place was it turned out she directed us to the IRO. I knocked on their door, and entered. I was asked if I have an appointment here. I said no. They told me I have to have an appointment because they are waiting for 3 students at the time I was there — there was no one around! I went out booked an appointment for today because they were booked for the whole day of yesterday. I entered again, now they were happy because I had an appointment… wtf? Anyway they told us we should go to the MedCent or whatever it’s called at the Small Courtyard — yes they finally knew where it was — and they can help us. Cool we thought. We went to that place there was a small hospital alike place, with administrators who spoke really little English, but told us we need our papers to be translated to POLISH! Otherwise they can’t accept them. What the actual fuck?! They do accept the papers in English when you are entering the country, so the police force accept and acknowledge the existence of English language, however the medical system refuses English and only accept Polish and Latin papers I guess… Oh, and the translation must be done by an official translator… What a mind fuck. After these information we went back to the IRO just outta curiosity whether they have an official translator, of course they didn’t…
They were really nice people at the IRO, but in reality they were not to big of a help. Basically we already knew all the infos they told us… But I guess we are a special case because Hungary was pretty fast in the whole vaccination race and due to our teaching practices’ we (Sari and me) got vaccinated pretty early even buy Hungarian standards, which means we are like 2-3 months ahead of others around us.
Today we are looking for a translator, I’ll keep you updated. The bottom line tho is, in Poland to get the 3rd dose of vaccination your 2nd vaccination has to be older then 6 months, and you have to have everything all the papers translated to Polish.
It sucks, but I thought I’ll tell you how it works around here in case you were wondering what’s it like to get the 3rd dose of vaccine in Poland’
Thanks for reading, and get vaccinated if you can!
Thank you
Almos
