Downtown Walk
So, we are picking up the storyline as we were leaving Kampinos National Park. As we walked up to the car we saw newish tire marks, as it seemed they stopped right before the car, checked it and left in a hurry based on the tire tracks. But for just in case I’ve left a note in my window with my phone number, so they could call me if I parked in a wrong spot. Since no one called me I believe they just checked the foreign license plate just out of curiosity.
On our way to the national park we traveled on one of the main freeways, honestly because I haven’t even thought about driving thru the countryside, and it was more convenient. However we opted for the smaller roads back to Warsaw. It was really nice to see the little villages with those cosy- and incredible good-looking wooden houses that you can find anywhere North from the Carpathian Mountains.
We arrived to Warsaw on the route 580 and I believe that was the same road that we had taken at our very first time arriving to our new home — home for the semester, however the lowest number of months you have to be in a place to have the right to call it living is 3 months, so going on Erasmus is living in a different country, in case you were wondering…
After we got home we took a hot shower, defrost our fingers, had a nice dinner, and started getting ready for our meet up with our friends Ola and Julia.
We agreed on meeting at 19:00 next to the Christmas tree right at the Main Square. The problem was the entire Polish population was meeting there! Although the situation wasn’t ideal, we found each other pretty quickly! Great job us! We walked down the street, the same old thing we did last week — nah, it’s not true, however I’m wondering if any of you guys know what I have quoted?! Anyway back to the main story; we started our little trip of Warsaw at the Main Square from there we walked to the Old Town Market Square, checked out the ice-skating ring — yeah, they have a freaking ice-skating ring in one of their main square, how awesome is that?! From there we went to the Barbican, and bought some hot wine. This time the wine was pretty good, however the service was a bit too much. The lady said she doesn’t speak English, so I ordered in Polish, but she wanted to give us the bigger size glasses, and I had to tell her like 4 times I want the small ones. I mean I get it, I totally get it, you wanna sell as much of your goods to the stupid tourists as you can, and I admit I found this little play quite funny for the first and for maybe the second time as well, however after the third it was just annoying, and totally pointless. If I was alone there I would’ve just left, play with your rhombus, not with me bitch. But I didn’t do any scene because it would’ve been just pointless. After we finished our wine we were headed to the Palace of Culture and Sciences, because next to it was a bar we must’ve checked out. They were selling some sort of Ukrainian shots made of cherry. It tasted like a dream, it really was great, and shit they’ve even put some cherry into our glass. The only complain I can think of was the price, we had just as good shots, or maybe even better ones at the bar we went to with Anna, Mate and Julia. But it was definitely worth a try, I think we might even buy a bottle as souvenir.
From the newly found bar(?) we went home, it was a bit late and we had spent enough time outside that day.
As always it was a great pleasure and huge fun meeting the girls, I hope we will repeat this little sightseeing tour sometime soon!
That is the full story of yesterday — or actually by now the story of the day before yesterday — seems like splitting it in half didn’t make this part any shorter sorry about that.
I hope y’all healthy, keep it that way,
Take care and thank you for reading,
Almos
