Exploring a New Park

Yesterday two major things happened. Firstly I had a Christmas call with my family, secondly we went for a city-hike.

In the early afternoon we had a whatsapp call with my family, all of the close family members were visiting my grandpa, so I had the chance to talk with everybody. While we were talking someone in the apartment above us did a huge jump and the earthquake-y shake that come from above let our light in the kitchen free. Just a little jump above us broke the lights… wtf?! After I checked and the light was not properly installed in the first place… They’ve only used one screw instead of the two that would have been necessary to prevent the lights fall of for example. I wrote to our landlord, she was super nice offered her help immediately and they’re fixing it in no time. And luckily we’ve just left for a few day, so the broken light doesn’t really affect us.

The other major thing was our little in-city-hike. For some reason I was checking GoogleMaps and I accidentally changed from usually used ‘Default’ map type to the ‘Terrain’ one and I found a small hill-ish thingy in Warsaw! It’s not a proper hill it’s something smaller than a hill like a bigger molehill or something. But the point is it’s a positive geological form and the locals found the best way to use it! From one side it’s just a tiny hill with bushes and trees all over it. When we got of the tram we got to the tree-y side and it was a bit disappointing for the first look, but then we started climbing and when we reached the ‘summit’ we saw a full new side of the hill; there was a long slope with decent inclination aaand with no trees. It was a huge sledge slope or whatever its name is. Dozens of people were there from all ages sledging and enjoying the combination of snow and slopes. There were many kids of course, but surprisingly there were any other age groups as well! There were 25+ year old people sliding on various thing (from sledge to garbage bags you could find literally everything) and there were even some very ‘cool’ kids in their 16s. The typical bitchy faces show up with nicely done hair fancy clothes and with a sledge. God only knows for how long had they hid their inner child and now they finally enjoy being a kid — yes a 16 years old person is still a kid…

We enjoyed others joy for quite a long time, but it was -10°C, so we had to get moving before the hypothermia would have kicked in. We had a nice little walk in the park at the basin of the hill, it was magical! It was the typical winter park scenery that you have in your mind when you think about a park in winter. The grass was beautiful snowy, there was a frozen lake in the middle of the park with ducks and lovely bridges every here and there. It was beautiful! It’s a shame we were basically ice cubes and fearing our lives we had to get on a bus and head home. Cannot wait to get back to that place!

That’s it for today, tomorrow I’m writing to y’all from Bialystok, can’t wait to share my experiences!

Till then; take care and have a nice evening,

Almos
