Exploring Wroclaw

In my last blog we explored the Christmas Market in Wroclaw, then we got back to our accommodation. The bed was so comfortable, the bedsheets we so soft… ahw I already miss that bed! We slept like a baby.

The next morning we packed everything into the car and walked back to the old town. It was just as beautiful as if was the previous day, except now we saw a bit more of the buildings. As we were walking towards the old townI remembered Julia told us about the elves in Wroclaw. Allegedly there are 300 elves located completely randomly in the city. As we were walking down the streets we started hunting them and counting them. Although we walked 15 km in the city we only found 56 elf. That’s almost 20% which is a medium good result I guess. We were happy with the ones we found, almost everyone of them was great! Apart from a few mediocre elves most of them were really funny and outstanding. Here are my favorites: *as soon as my phone’s willing to cooperate I’ll upload more*

Our walk ended up at the Christmas Market — again haha — where we took some selfies to prove that we were there.

Our second stop was at café — it is kind of a tradition these months for us to start the city exploring day with a coffee or hot chocolate. We found an really adorable one with amazingly cushy couches. I believe it was last week when new Covid restrictions were introduced in Poland; from then only 30% of the shops customers can be unvaccinated — as far as I understood. So when we entered the café we were immediately blocked by waitresses asking for our Covid license or whatever its name is. It was kinda funny because I could’ve just rolled up my sleeves and show her the mark of the needle. And it was even funnier when we saw how the 30%-rule works. A young couple arrived to the café, the boy wasn’t vaccinated so they couldn’t just sit anywhere, they had to sit at a certain table. What sense does that make?! Seriously?!

Anyway after our pitstop we continued walking, we saw an oldish/newish mall, we couldn’t decide if it was being built or renovated, but it was a great stop for a pee stop. After walking around for a few hours again we were starving and unfortunately freezing as well. We were looking for some food, although I loved my bigos the day before Sari was freezing so we were searching for some restaurants. After 20 seconds we gave up on finding a reasonably priced place so we opted for some fast food. It was either McDonalds or Burger King. I have nothing against MCD apart from their stupid perhaps greedy no-drink-refill policy. I hate it, so we went to Burger King. We had some nice burgers, however halfway to the end of the meal we realized we were freezing more than when we entered the building! Are we the only ones who find these places extremely cold or is this some sorta policy of theirs?

Anyway by the time we finished our meal we were so cold we gave up on additional walks and headed to the car, our plan was to get in the warm car drive a few hours to Lodz, explore it a bit and then get back to Warsaw. Unfortunately, it was 1530 when we left the parking lot, and we ended up sitting in Wroclaw rush hour. Bummer.

— Remember sitting in a traffic jam is not only annoying, it’s also really bad for the environment, since you are burning fuel just to sit in your car. —

We finally broke out of the city, drove 2ish hours to the main street of Lodz. Although Lodz is a pretty big city —at least in Hungarian standards — but surprisingly there were not much in it to see. We checked out the Christmas Market, by that I mean the 19 wooden shop/stand. After Wroclaw it was really small and weak. However they did have a DJ in Lodz and some amusement park thingies.

After a short walk we got back to the car and headed home. It was a really nice trip, Wroclaw definitely worths a trip!

Tomorrow we are coming from Warsaw, till then take care,

Almos
