Longest drive to Wroclaw
Yesterday was a long an exciting day; we’ve explored Wroclaw!
However, we start our day back in Warsaw where we woke up. Unexpected huh? Yesterday it took me hours to fall asleep literally, I couldn’t sleep until 0200. This hiccup also meant we couldn’t get up at the planed time. When we woke up, and realized we had no food, so I had a supply run to the nearest Lidly in the meantime Sari packed our stuff — except my toothbrush, bummer. I got us some sandwich materials for our lunch on the road.
Yeah road, so as I told you earlier, the commute from Warsaw to Wroclaw takes 3 hours and 45 minutes. In our case *should have taken.* My plan was to use 85% freeway and 25% highway on our trip, so we would’ve traveled on a safe fast road yet we could’ve had the opportunity to take a closer look at the countryside. Well, it almost worked out. The first problem was I forgot to bring a map. The second problem was the shitty Waze doesn’t show the borders, some randomly chosen cities and so on… So, I got lost on the map, which eventually resulted us kinda getting lost in real life. Lemme see if I can recall all the roads we drove on: S8, 50, 485 and an other S8 I think. Yeah after checking the map, I missed the road (interstate) A2, route 74, and a road that doesn’t even have a name however thanks God it did have tarmac on the surface . And the worst thing is I wouldn’t have had a map, on my phone’s map I can perfect see how huge detours we took just to make Waze happy. I don’t understand why can’t you decide what speed limits you want to use. I mean why can’t you just select ‘towing a trailer’ option in the settings, and in that case Waze wouldn’t have panicked every time I missed the turn to the A2 interstate. That road would’ve been the fastest if we were doing 140km/h — that’s the speed limit — however I’m not willing to drive that fast, it’s utterly unnecessary, it’s bad for the environment, it’s bad for my fuel economy, hence it’s bad for me. We probably would have gotten to Wroclaw if we took the road I wanted to.
As on every Thursday I had my Natural Environment of Poland class, unluckily we were traveling at the time of the class… I did join the class and tried to pay attention, but the mobile data wasn’t stable enough for an enjoyable online class. Actually we didn’t really understand a word he said until he was totally gone, and we gave up on the class.
It was already dark when we finally arrived to Wroclaw, and parked the car. We set of at 1045 and arrived somewhere around 1630. That’s 5 hours. And 45 minutes. But we did have many pee-stops! It was definitely a long drive and was unnecessarily stressful because Waze didn’t want me to drive environment friendly. That’s definitely a feature that’s needed, so if you read this and you work at Waze, you know what’s the next project!
Since I hate blogs without pictures even though I forgot to take any usable pictures we gotta be happy with this one… sorry |
I believe that’s it for today, I’m continue tomorrow
Take care and see you then!
