Lublin And The Countryside

So yesterday we woke up at our luxurious apartment with bittersweet feelings. It was sweet because we were happy to be there, however we were also sad because we knew if had to check out in a few hours — this was the bitter part.

We quickly packed everything, cleaned the zillion dishes we used for our cooking trip. Meanwhile Sari wrote a message to the landlord whether we could leave the car in the garage for a few extra hours. And they said yes! Wow! I thought it was a really nice gesture, and I thought we would be rejected even though I knew allowing us wouldn’t have taken them any effort. But I was wrong; one point to humanity!

We spent the morning with exploring the city, we were walking down the main street, checking out the bazar and the Lublin Castle, and visiting a new café; I believe it name was Ambasador Cukiernia. Here they were using the famous Polish chocolate factory’s products for everything! They were selling E.Wedel chocolates, hot chocolates — dark-, milk-, and white chocolate(!) — many types of coffees with Wedel chocolate in them, and I could continue with the listing for ages.

I was already feeling a bit sick so I went for a hot chocolate with ginger and orange. I don’t like ginger that much, I just drink it or eat it for it’s positive effects on my body, and I genuinely hate orange, however I knew I was about to get sick so it was my mission to shovel as much healthy shit into my body as possible. The other option I was curious about was the hot white chocolate. It sounds incredibly interesting — I’ll try it next time. When the waitress came it was really excited, and surprisingly my hot chocolate was not only okay, it was fantastic! It was really awesome — however I still got sick so the ginger didn’t really work. Sari went for a hot chocolate with rose flavor, it was nice, but mine was way better.

After we were done with our warm up drinks we headed to the university to admire the huge park that surrounds it. It is call Saxon Garden — just as the park in Warsaw. I could only imagine how awesome it could be spend you break between classes in such a huge and beautiful park. Wait a minute. PTE TTK does have a beautiful botanical garden around it! Scratch the ‘I could only imagine’ part I know exactly how awesome it is!

We probably could’ve explored a lot more of the city, but we had to hit the road to be able to check out the countryside in Lublin before the sunset. We were headed to the Vistula river westbound on route 830. However it felt like we would’ve driven thru a set of Hollywood’s idea on the world’s most beautiful villages. Except they were real! And the road surface was pretty poor sometimes… Anyway the villages were stunning! They were full of huge wooden castles/weekend houses! It’s a shame we didn’t stopped to enjoy them but there were so many wonderful houses we could’ve easily spend 3 days there by just looking at those beauties. However we were running out of daylight and we had another village to check out! The next stop was Kazimierz Dolny, and it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to!!! Good job we didn’t take any pictures of it nor we stopped there for a walk… But I was sick so I think that’s my excuse for being dumb. But I have that feeling somewhere deep down that we will be driving home on the Vistula river bank to see all these amazing places again — or I’ll do a bicycle trip in that region in the near future.

I’ll finish today’s blog here and continue in tomorrow’s blog.

I hope you are doing great!
