Visiting Kampinos Nation Park

Yesterday we explored Kampinos National Park again! And we’ve fallen in love with it again, again, and again. That place is tremendous!

We got up at 8:12 am sharp, so we wouldn’t run out of daylight if we got lost. When we looked out the window it had just started snowing!  Luckily the temperatures were around 0°C so the snow haven’t melt right away!

Getting to the spotted place (Dąb Kobendzy / Kobendza's Oak – Opuszczone gospodarstwa Loop from Piaski Królewskie) took us something like an hour or so, thru wonderful winter-land Poland. When we got to the alleged parking lot we found a hotel instead of a parking lot. At this point I had the feeling I’ve done it again. I got fooled by the website where I usually search for hiking trails. It just shows the alleged trail, but no route sign (you know like blue line trail or something). I kinda knew before we left that it would be like this, however I really hoped we will end up in a real parking lot where we would find a map with all the trails.

We figured we should follow the only trail sign we saw on the drive to the hotel’s parking lot and see where it led. It led to a huge trail intersection, with a map, but it wasn’t much helpful, so we decided on using maps.me instead. Which went well. The trail we have chosen lead us to a fence. Luckily we weren’t far away from the car, so walking along the fence to get to the car was an option.

Although this route thingy was quite exciting, it was not the most exciting part of the trip! When we reached the top of one of the peaks of Kamponos NP (it was109 m high) Sari saw something. It was something like a deer. She was a bit shocked, but it was nothing major, I was sad because I didn’t see it. At this point we had no idea what was coming up in the next half an hour. We’ve started walking back to the car when we spotted two moose! A male and a female I believe, and they were massive! I was shocked how huge and amazing those animals were! Absolutely beautiful! At that point I was 100% happy with our choice of route, and the trip felt complete. However, as we kept walking, we saw a complete herd! We didn’t count them, but I would bet my left ear there were more than 20 of them. It was a mesmerizing and also a pants-shitting experience. By the time they got lost I was over the moon by the experience! Not knowing we would see at least 2 other herds.

Kampinos Nation Park is one of the most amazing places on Earth!

I’d like to give you some information on these beautiful animals, because my pictures doesn’t show how huge and special those animals are. So, their average hight is between 1.4 meter aaand 2.1 meter at their shoulders! Remember these animals also have heads! Their weight matches the expectations; they can weight somewhere between 390kg and 700kg! That’s the same weight as a small hatchback! I think it’s truly astonishing.

I think I’ve already written too much so that’s it for this blog and I probably will continue yesterday’s blog in a next post.

Till then take care everybody!
