Action Packed Day

Yesterday was an exciting day! I couldn’t walk Sari to the bus stop because I was about to have an interview!

I was applying for a mentor program for incoming students to the University of Pécs. I’ve been a mentor for a few semesters, and it was great! I had made friends with most of my mentees — almost with all of the ones who were willing to talk to me — and I love and miss them to this very day.

After my interview I was headed to Blue City Ikea because I wanted to get some present for Sari’s name-day. I walked 45 minutes to the place, when I got there I had to find my way in — we’ve only been there once before and it was pain in the ass to enter the mall — which wasn’t easier this time either. When I finally got inside I still had to find the Ikea which didn’t go as planned. I kinda knew where it was when we first when there, however now it seemed like the store’s been Ctrl X-ed out of the mall. I walked at least three circles around the place I assumed it was, everyone was looking at me questioning why I was walking around the mall… Then I finally gave up, and checked on Google what’s the haps on the craps… As it turned out the Blue City Ikea was temporarily closed. Bummer! At that point I almost lost my cool there, but instead I went to check if other stores might have that particular item I was looking for. And they did!

After my successful purchase I was heading home, Sari’s class was already finished, and we both were leaving at the same-ish time. However I was on foot and she took the subway. It was sorta obvious that I was going to be the last who gets home, but I tried to walk as fast as possible. I think it would’ve been a nice gesture to make lunch for her… Fortunately/unfortunately the lunch was in production by the time I got home, however I’ve just gotten home in time to help with the preparation. We were having some epic tortillas filled with chili. The plan was to watch something while eating, but we were starving and we felt like we couldn’t waste any time on searching for an acceptable movie or video.

After lunch I had one of my last — online — classes of the semester. The professor sent us a link to a video on her Google Drive… She told us a few extra information about the final exam, and then said goodbye. Although the class was not the one I was hoping for, the video she shared with us seems to be really interesting! It’s called Sand War, based on the first glimpse the movie is about how we destroy our planet by using huge amounts of sand. It’s quite fascinating how many thing has sand in it. Glass, concrete, phones, computers, toothpastes, and the list goes one and on for ages. However the main issue is with the construction industry; concrete need loads of sand, however there’s one other thing type of building that eats sand: creating artificial islands! Dubai is exporting huge amount of sand to create those stupid islands, because the desert sand isn’t good for building — the saying ‘selling send to arabs’ became reality, how crazy is that?! Unfortunately I fall a sleep somewhere around here, so the rest of the movie is to come in tomorrow’s blog.

Till then; take care!
