Chilling And Dreaming
So, yesterday was a pretty chill day. Finally. I didn’t walk to any particular place. Neither did I take any pictures! This last thing is a really outstanding event(?). I always take some pictures because it makes writing my blog the next day a million times easier.
Anyway, as I told you I didn’t walk to any new place, however I’m still in competition with my friends, so I went on three separated walks, which all added up to a 13 km day in total. I think it’s a pretty nice number. It’s funny, last year if I walked 13 km I was astonished by my achievement, but now this year — so far — my monthly average is 13.2 km. I know it’s only the first third of the month, but I think I won’t average less the 12 km a day — but of course my goal is to reach a higher number not a lower. I probably will walk every day the distance between to main roundabouts three times a day till the end of the month. It’s a nice walking distance, because of the huge traffic it feels like an always changing scenery, it’s perfect really accept one thing; the dirty air that the traffic leaves behind. But I enjoy watching the traffic to much to care about this. I especially love walking after the sunset because all the cars have their lights on and it’s easier to spot the import American cars. American cars — cars that were built for American market — has side-marker lights, amber in the front and red in the rear. The idea behind the side-markers is that in the dark from the front you can see the car’s parking lights and headlights, from the back you can see the taillights. So two sides of the car are covered with lights however there a still two sides of the car that are basically invisible at night. At least that’s the case with most of the European cars. However in the USA and Canada it’s required to have side-markers, so the vehicle is visible from all directions. It’s such a huge safety feature, I don’t understand why isn’t it compulsory to have side-marker lights on European vehicles.
As I’ve probably told you earlier I’m in a competition with my friends. It’s an Apple Watch competition and the goal everyday is to reach 600 point. We get a point for every percent gained on the “Move Ring.” The move ring is counting the all the KCAL that I’ve burned while I was moving — I think. We started the race as a free-some, but Trisztan is usually a bit behind me and Dani. However, me and Dani are dominating the race, we both reach the maximum points everyday! And I think it’s awesome! However, it also arises the question who will win then? If we both reach the maximum points it’s impossible to make difference, am I right?
Yesterday we watched Kara and Nate’s youtube video on their take on the Colorado Trail, and it made me wonder. Is there a kinda similar biking trail in Europe? Is there anyone who would have the time, the energy, the courage, and the interest to do a such thing? I mean the European version of the Colorado Trail, not the actual Colorado Trail — although that also sounds like a lot of fun. So I contacted my old friend from our USA summer Mark who’s a graduated PE teacher, so I know he has the strength, but I still have to ask whether he is interested in a huge bike trip and if he is I still need to find a trail for us.
— If you have any idea where we could find a nice trail or you would wanna come and join us please feel free to contact me! —
Thank you for reading, I hope y’all doing great!
Take care,
Almos
