Museuming
So, the day before yesterday might’ve been victory day, however yesterday was sore legs day. Although I had to study every muscle on the human leg, I forgot most of them, till yesterday. Yesterday — and actually today as well — I felt each of every muscle I had on my legs. I knew where they started and where they ended. I knew everything. Sometimes victory is painful.
Although my legs hurt it didn’t stop us from having a great day. In the morning we did the usual stuff like writing my blog, studying, and preparing lunch. However in the afternoon we spiced thing up a little. I might’ve told you earlier about a website I’ve found that has listed all the museums of Warsaw that has at least one day when you can enter for completely free. Yesterday we could’ve chosen from three different museums — I’ll take you to the other two don’t worry — and we’ve chosen the Museum of Warsaw. The museum itself is located in the middle of the main square — which isn’t really the main square because as far as we know there are no main square in Warsaw — so I thought it would be a great distance to walk. We walked thru the whole downtown area, thankfully it was really windy and felt surprisingly cold, hence when I said ‘walk’ I rather meant ‘run.’ I think we have never gone thru the downtown as fast as we did yesterday.
When finally got to the entrance it turned out to be not the entrance, they told us some directions, but somehow I didn’t get it, however there was another couple looking for the real entrance, so we ended up fallowing them. When we eventually found the entrance our fist question was about the restroom, it happened to be on the second floor so we took of our coats and rushed upstairs — I believe we’ve completely missed the first floor of the exhibition. But as it turned out it was no biggie, there were an other 3 story to be explored, thru 4 buildings! Four!
In the first building right above the entrance was an exhibition of cutleries and household gadgets with stories of maids — way more interesting than the Netflix series — those women had some serious problems, some of them were deported to South America and had to work as prostitutes.
Two other buildings had old paintings of Warsaw; those were my personal favorites, it was really interesting to compare the old Warsaw with this new insane version of Warsaw that we living in. There were no huge skyscrapers, no communist apartment buildings just beautiful stylish old buildings. I don’t understand why “modern” architecture considers glass towers prettier than the magnificent old buildings that were build in the 19-20th century.
There were two other buildings where you could see some coins, dresses, and old packagings. However this building had a staircase in it, which led us to the top of the building. It had a 360° panorama which was very important at the time, because natural light was the best way of ‘seeing.’
The buildings we visited were extremely beautiful they had amazing details, gorgeous doors, breathtaking view of the main square. I could totally picture myself living in a building like that in the 18th century.
I hope you are doing great
Take care
Almos
