The Beginning of Our Erasmus

As I told you in my previous blog I wanna be absolutely sure that my blog writing has anchoraged you to go on an Erasmus, however if you still not sure if you should go on your Erasmus or not, these few blogs are written for you!

How we started? — Unfortunately I can’t perfectly recall the exact dates, so I’ll use numbers for the days instead of actual dates. — The first day of our Erasmus actually started in Pécs. We had to pack all our possessions in a small car — haha yeah, if I’m talking about my car I usually say it’s an SUV, however when I had to pack all our shit in it, it felt like I’m trying to move a family with a tiny hatchback. I packed everything I thought I would need in a big suitcase and maybe in a smaller one too. However I wasn’t coming here alone! And this was the point where we stared having issues. Sari’s stuff only fitted in slightly more suitcases, so when I wanted to pack everything in the car I found six suitcases around me! SIX! — Side-note here: before you would also think Sari brought unnecessarily too much stuff, at this point we didn’t know what our apartment would look like, we had no idea, if it had any bedsheets, blankets, we didn’t even know if there was a washing machine in the apartment or not! We set off way before our contract and our Erasmus would’ve started, so we would have time to travel to the Baltic states. — Back to the main storyline; we managed to pack everything in the car, the trunk was full, the back seats were full, the front row was also pretty packed, but thankfully we managed to fit our little butts in there.

First we drove to Lake Balaton, because we were supposed to meet Sari’s friend in Budapest, spend a night with her, and finally set off the next day. So we drove to Balaton, we took our smart devises with us to the beach and continued planning our trip to the Baltics. As soon as we got everything settled, and I was about to start writing the plan on my planning paper I realized two things… Number one; I didn’t have a pen, Number two; we were already late to meet Sari’s friend! Bummer! That was probably the stupidest mistake I’ve ever made! We arrived to Sari’s friend lateish afternoon and spent a day or two with her.

Office for the… minutes.

The next day, we set off to Krakkow! Instead of taking route 2 to Slovakia we opted for the much more interesting route 21 thru Salgotarjan. It might be surprising to hear, but we have never ever been to Salgotarjan! It’s a nice city, with beautiful countryside. However the countryside just gotten better from that point! As we drove closer to Slovakia more and more hills, later mountains started surrounding us, as we got closer to the Tatra Mountains. Slovakia was incredibly beautiful! Although we wanted to go on a hike in the Tatra Nation Park, we were running out of daylight, so we didn’t have the option to stop and enjoy the views.

We arrived to Krakkow right before sunset, and that’s where I’ll continue my story tomorrow!

Till then; take care,

Almos
