A little chaotic blog from Thursday

I didn’t really know what to write today… It was another lazy day due to an online meeting that we eventually forgot to attend. As everyday today also had some highlights such as a beautiful sunset or the amazing quesadilla I made for dinner. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of my quesadilla but I’m doing it again tomorrow I will show you 😉 But there is something interesting I want to tell you. So, we got to Warsaw by car. I always wanted to go on Erasmus by a car, mainly to see as much of the road as possible. In 2019 I applied for Erasmus in Rovaniemi, Finland for 2020 Spring. And I always wanted to go there by car so a) I would have been able to see the Baltic states, and b) I could have driven to Nordkapp, Norway the most northern point of Continental Europe to see the Northern light. But due to Covid-19 and my status at ESN Pécs I couldn’t go. Then Sara and I applied for Erasmus again, this time everything was set. We applied for Bordeaux, France in the first pla...

First day at the University of Warsaw(?)

So yesterday I told you today is Meet your ESNer day… weeell not exactly. It is for most of the people, but not for us. But let’s start this blog in the beginning of the day. We got up quite early – especially early for me, because the past 3 nights I could hardly catch any sleep – and walked to the main campus which supposedly should have taken us something like 30 minutes, but the weather was pretty cold and terribly windy, so to reduce the time we have to spend outside we rushed to the place in 25 min. After a few minutes waiting, our guide has arrived. He walked us around the main campus, told us interesting stories – like some of the buildings were built in the 16 th century(?) or the biggest room of the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies used to be a movie theater! He also told us how the University of Warsaw is competing against the Jagiellonian University – these are the top 2 universities in Poland. It was great spending time at the university, basically we h...

Let's pretend this is day one(?)

Today we just took the time to really concentrate on ourselves. In the morning we slept late, then I did my little yoga with Bohobeautiful, after that we started cooking lunch and dinner yada-yada-yada. We did participate in an online webinar about the library in Warsaw. To be completely honest I am not big of a fan of libraries. Not like I wouldn’t like to read, but somehow every time I went to the library back at home, I could tell based on people’s look that they knew I was studying sports and therefore I did not belong to a library. Of course, Sara was paying attention she studies at the faculty of Humanities, “her type’s” natural habitat is the library. While we were listening to the presentation, I had the time to think. And I realized a rather strange thing. Yesterday while we were talking with Ola, we were Americans ! I mean me and Sara… Okay, let me explain. So, every time I hear some English-speaking dude walking down the street talking on the phone or with someone...

Introduction or something similar

Hi, my name is Almos Lenard. I am spending the next 6 months on Erasmus in Warsaw, Poland. I invite you to join my days/weeks/months while I am here – with my girlfriend, so actually while we are here. First let me introduce myself properly. I am a 24ish years old student from Pécs, Hungary. I currently study to become a teacher of Geography and Physical Education. I am not quite sure, whether I gonna teach any of that or I’ll end up somewhere completely different, but that’s not the point of my blog. The blog doesn’t exactly start at the same time we got to Warsaw. Among many reasons we didn’t have internet on the first week of our stay and our mobile plans doesn’t give us more than 10GB a month, which might sound like a lot, but considering we’ve used quite a lot of it during our trip in the Baltics we were trying to save as much of our data as possible. The other reason was that we were really busy starting our new life here. Although the apartment we are renting is well e...
