Further Plans(?)

Image
So, yesterday we started our day with administrations. Seems like that’s the new norm, since we don’t have university, but Sari has to study meanwhile I wanna give you as many angles, and as many information on my Erasmus as possible. I currently run two storylines on the blog, on is a motivational blog starring our adventures on our way to Warsaw — with a little detour to Tallinn — while I also write this ‘everyday’ blog where I tell you what I did the previous day. One blog usually takes 45-60 minutes to write, then I easily spend another hour with getting it ready to be shared, sharing it and so on. So, writing my blog, and getting it ready is how I usually spend my mornings, then if I’m not lucky I’m the one who cooks — usually I’m lucky haha.   However I’m also thinking about writing a blog about our expenses it might be interesting for someone who’s thinking about going on Erasmus, but feels like money is the boundary. I’ve been checking all our expenses for the last t...

The Baltic Sea

Image
As soon as we got closer to the Baltic Sea — were only 60 km from it when — the wind got significantly stronger, my phone claimed that we had 50km/h headwind, which actually happened to be really realistic, the car used 0.5l/100km more(!) on that stretch of our journey. Soon we had the first glimpse of the Baltic Sea! It was beautiful. However there was a huge cliff between us and the water, so we had to find a way down. We happened to find a beautiful waterfall called Saka juga. Next to the waterfall happened to be a staircase that led us to the coast thru a beautiful jungle-alike forest-y plateau. The wind only quieted down between the trees, as soon as we got out of the woods we got the 50km/h wind in our faces.   While Sari was still in the forest I quickly took of my trousers, and ran into the sea — I was afraid she wouldn’t have let me. The water was pretty cold, huge waves were almost hitting my power-source and the wind made the whole experience a little bit more unc...

E. Wedel And Getting Disappointed in Humanity

Image
So, yesterday started like everyday — thanks God — we woke up had breakfast, Sari was studying, I cooked something to eat, yaddi yaddi yadda. The afternoon however, now that was an interesting one. We decided we should go to the old town for the last-ish time, I wanted to walk Sari didn’t; she wanted to drink a coffee I didn’t. So instead of shouting and bickering we met halfway; we walked to a café on the way to the city. However it wasn’t just a regular café shop. It was Pijalnie Czokolady E. Wedel café! We were super excited to even be there, honestly it’s one of the greatest things in Poland! — first I wanted to write ‘we were super excited to have a hot chocolate there, but then I realized I would literally eat everything in that shop with the joyousest-joy, so it would’ve felt like I was discriminating the other yummies in there — We entered the café, the waiter and waitress were super nice and smiley, they gave us the menu, which we started examining. It must’ve taken us a...

We Got Pulled Over

Image
So, we left Certoka Ezers, filled up our thank and headed towards Estonia. Surprisingly, no police check was at the border, however we did found a place to pull over and take a picture with the Estonia sign. From there it was smooth sailing thru beautiful forestlands till Tartu, where we booked a room in the local dorm. First I thought we messed up something with the GPS when we got there. The dorm, the people, the vibes… everything was exactly the same as it was in Pécs! — If you have Erasmus connection with Tartu, I would say go for it, because it looked like a city where I’d love to live. — The receptionist was super nice, she gave us the keys, but forgot to tell us which floor our room was at. So, we went to the elevator, it took it some 30 years to show up, then of course it was full, so we had to wait another century for it to come back… You know how it’s going in the dorms. Eventually we got in the elevator, and got off it on the third floor. We walked around, we couldn’t ...

Politechinka

Image
So, yesterday started kinda slow, kinda boring, I skipped all the work around the apartment, which was going to start tomorrow’s blog with ‘I spent the whole morning next to the sink washing dishes…’ However that’s for tomorrow, yesterday things did get exciting in the end, because we were meeting Ola and Julia for lunch! The suggested a newish, Polish restaurant, called Bar Polny.   The commute there would’ve taken us around 10-15 minutes, if we had taken the subway. However,  I  thought it was a better idea to take a tram, so we wouldn’t spend our outside-the-apartment time  inside  a tunnel. It was a tremendous idea, I even checked the which tram we should take, and eventually we were headed to the tram stop. It was only there when we realized we probably didn’t left our apartment in the same time Google suggested, because the tram was gone by the time we got there. Soon — in 12 minutes — came the second tram, we hopped on it, and started our journey. ...

Beautiful Latvian Countryside

Image
After we had a blast in Vilnius we had to continue our journey towards North. We were supposed to travel thru Latvia into Estonia in one day. Which of course is totally doable if you just sit in the car and drive, but if you plan is to explore the region it’s more like an impossible task.   Anyway, we got up in the morning had a quick breakfast, and left our accommodation. Our first stop was in the forestland of Latvia. As we were leaving Vilnius, we had to realize the roads here weren’t that smooth and new as the ones we were driving on in Poland, and they had many highways with roundabouts however unlike in Hungary, where you can also find roundabouts on main highways here you could easily keep the highway speed thru the roundabout without dying, or destroying your car. And the reason for this is simply because their roundabouts are twice or three times bigger then the roundabouts in Hungary.  Anyway we were driving thru beautiful forests and huge farmlands till we go...

SNOW

Image
Yesterday was the first day of our last month here in Warsaw. And it that didn’t sound bad enough, our last month is not even a full month, we are leaving on the 11 th ! That’s pretty sad. Although I had these pretty depressing thoughts in my head all day long, I gotta say, yesterday was one of the best day we had here! It was kinda snowing in the past few days, but it seemed like it always melted in a few seconds. However that was not the case in the Saxon Garden! We’ve spent the last month basically home, because we had to study, so now we decided to go out as much as possible. This decision led us to the Saxon Garden where the snow didn’t melt immediately, the whole garden was covered with snow! It was beautiful! We walked around, had a little nostalgic time thought about the first time we went there, how beautiful it was with leaves on the trees, and now how beautiful it was in snow. Soon the inevitable happened and we started freezing, so we had to walk home.  After we ...
