Praha Take Two

Image
So, yesterday we went on a little sightseeing tour. A sightseeing tour of our on in the beating hippie heart of Warsaw; the Praha District. Unfortunately I have to moderate myself a little bit here, because Praha is a really interesting part of Warsaw, it is also very hippie-alike however what it is not is beating. Unless you went to the wrong street and you are the one who’s getting beaten. For us the district looked more like a middle to low class people’s quarters, a place where crime is more visible than in the other parts of Warsaw — the higher number of police cars back me up on that. I’m also hundred percent positive that the Corona virus didn’t help this district either; after spending almost an our in the oldest bazar in the whole city, we were looking for a café or bar to have a drink and solve our bathroom issues. Before we left home Sari wrote a list of cafes that she thought was a good idea to check out. So when we got tired we went to the first one. It was closed. T...

Snowstorm

Image
Yesterday when we woke up we weren’t expecting much of the day. It was supposed to be a just a regular Monday, with nothing special. However… So, after we woke up I walked Sari to the bus stop — just to make sure she left for the university haha — and then I went to the closet bigger grocery store to buy myself some vitamins. When I left the mall wind started blowing like a mad man, according to my phone the windspeed was 43km/h! After a few minutes huge dark clouds gathered and as I walked a long a few raindrops fall on my head. Naturally I’ve started — silently — singing “raindrops keep falling on my head, just like a guy who’s feet are too big for his head” then however the raindrops started change to snowflakes! Huge huge snowstorm was hitting Warsaw bigtime! Unfortunately I had to rush back to our apartment because otherwise I would’ve had some terrible trouser accident. What a shame… However I did have the opportunity to enjoy the strange phenomenon from our window. It was ...

I’d love to say that if you go on an Erasmus everyday of it will be remarkable. However it might be true.   However, however it really depends on you what you can make out of your days. Yesterday nothing so special happened that I feel like I should share with you, however on my evening walk I did came across something really funny. As I was doing my usual Rondo Dasinksiego to Rondo ONZ walk I felt like I needed to walk a bit more. So, I walked towards Zlote Tarasy, took a lap around it, walked by the best and cheapest kebab place I know in Warsaw, when I saw a GLS van parked on the side of the road. On that particular road cars have to park in a 45° engle — I personally think this is the most effective way to park, since more cars can fit than if they were parked parallel, but parking and maybe even joining the traffic flow is easier than from a 90° parking spot. Anyway, the van was significantly longer than the cars which the parking spaces were designed to, and the driver...

What An Epic Day!

Image
Sooo, yesterday was freaking amazing!   The day didn’t start like a hyper interesting one, however after lunch shit got real! Actually lunch was pretty epic as well! I’ve probably written about how my diet has shifted from extreme meat eater to something what is closer to vegetarian than anyone would’ve ever thought. I kinda feel like I had enough meat, however my main problem with meat is that I hate to prepare it… I rather eat veggies than prepare some meat. Anyways the point is I’ve started looking for alternative lunch options. Not so long ago either I found or my friend Mesi — are you still reading my blog? 😛 — showed me a recipe for chickpea fritters. The recipe was pretty good, the final product tasted good, although I had a feeling it could be better. So yesterday we spiced up things a little bit. We added egg to the original ingredient list and oh boy, it turned out great! One of the best dishes we have ever came up with! After we finished our lunch we played some ...

So, yesterday was finally a rest day. Two days before yesterday was the end of our contest and that night I went to bed late because I was waiting on the results. Than the day before yesterday I got up early, not because I wanted to, just because I got used to getting up early. Unlucky, eh? Anyway, the day before yesterday I went to bed in time and then yesterday I slept in pretty late, and now I’m pretty much reenergized — yes, I believe todays blog isn’t going to be the most exciting blog, where I discover new places in Warsaw, but I want you to see that not everyday will be extremely exciting when you are on Erasmus; somedays are very exciting; actually most of the days, but there are also days when you just need to get some rest. We played cards watched some Kara and Nate the usual staff. I’ve started really loving their content recently. Although it seems like they are a bit fakeish with their #vanlife thing and they are doing that country counting thing that is kinda unnece...

Museuming

Image
So, the day  before  yesterday might’ve been victory day, however yesterday was sore legs day. Although I had to study every muscle on the human leg, I forgot most of them, till yesterday. Yesterday — and actually today as well — I felt each of every muscle I had on my legs. I knew where they started and where they ended. I knew everything. Sometimes victory is painful. Although my legs hurt it didn’t stop us from having a great day. In the morning we did the usual stuff like writing my blog, studying, and preparing lunch. However in the afternoon we spiced thing up a little. I might’ve told you earlier about a website I’ve found that has listed all the museums of Warsaw that has at least one day when you can enter for completely free. Yesterday we could’ve chosen from three different museums — I’ll take you to the other two don’t worry — and we’ve chosen the Museum of Warsaw. The museum itself is located in the middle of the main square — which isn’t really the main square be...

Longest Walk Of My Life

Image
Victory! Yesterday was victory day! It was the last day of my competition with my friends. I cannot believe it’s been already a week since I started going on these crazy long walks all over Warsaw. Since it was the last day of my competition I’ve decided to go on my biggest walk yet! A few weeks ago I was wandering on a map of Warsaw and I found a place called Balaton — which is a lake in Hungary. I wanted to go there before, and it would’ve been a little bit more convenient to go there before my monthly public transportation pass expired. But since I was in a race, and had to walk anyway I figured I should walk there now. So, I did. When I set of yesterday morning I had some ideas which way to get to Balaton, I knew first I had to get to the Vistula River. I walked towards Nowy Swat street — unconsciously almost walked to the University again — then I turned South which is exactly the opposite way the river flows. I walked on the riverbank for a while, it was calm and quite, the...
